How much will it cost to repair my computer?

We pride ourselves on being the best value in Norwich, some jobs such as callouts are charged on an hourly basis, whereas other jobs such as upgrades or replacement parts, have fixed prices. Please have a look at our pricing page for more information.

If you can't fix my problem, do I still pay?

NO! Unlike other repair companies who have a minimum charge or callout fees, if we can't fix your computer, you dont pay a penny! So where's the risk? Call us today to book in.

Why don't I just go to PC world?

Why would you do such a thing?!? I Need A Nerd is cheaper, faster, more knowledgable and offers a far superior service, we guarantee it! You need only ask their previous customers to understand why we are number 1 in Norwich!

Do you offer pickup and delivery?

Yes! We offer FREE pickup and delivery of systems within our coverage area.

Are you qualified and insured to repair my computer?

Absolutely, all of the nerds have university degrees in a computing field and membership to the British Computer Society. We have both public liability and professional indemnity insurance to the sum of five million pounds.

I'm in a hurry, can you fix my computer quickly?

Our typical turnaround time is about 2 to 3 days however we do offer a rush service if you need it quicker. Please contact us to book in.

Do you price match?

Yes! We are so convinced that we're the best value in Norwich that we'll match any genuine quote!

Is your repair work guaranteed?

It most certainly is! After we've fixed your machine, if the same problem reoccurs (due to no fault of your own), we'll send someone out to fix it properly, for free!

Will you come to my house or place of work?

Can I bring my computer to you?

Yes! To keep our costs (and prices) down, we operate out of managed offices. Please consult our Drop and Go page before dropping your computer off with us.

Can you fix my computer remotely?

Do you service apple computers?

Yes! We can repair almost any make and model of computer.

How do I pay for your services?

You can pay us by:

• Cash
• Cheque (with issuing bank card)
• Credit/Debit cards via Paypal (subject to surcharge)
• BACS bank transfer

My computer is pretty old, is it worth repairing?

Many high street repair companies will always say yes, we however say maybe. In some cases the cost of repair may exceed:

• The value of the computer
• The cost of a new, better machine

We stick to a strict code of conduct, set by the British Computer Society. Because of this, we'll never fix a computer if it isn't in the interest of the customer. Please contact us for our professional advice, it's free!

MY COMPUTER HAS JUST CRASHED AND I THINK I'VE LOST MY COURSEWORK!

Do you repair broken laptops?

Yes! We can fix or replace pretty much any part in a laptop, contact us today to book it in.

I've lost my windows/wireless/computer password, can you help?

Yes! We can recover passwords from most applications, including Internet Explorer, Windows and wireless networks. WE WILL NOT however, retrieve passwords from a machine or network that you do not own!

What antivirus software do you recommend?

We recommend NOD32 by ESET. You probably haven't heard of it, but take it from us, it's the bees knees. Visit our NOD32 page to read more info on this ground breaking peice of software.

My computer is running slowly, what should I do?

How much do you charge for a website?

This depends heavily on what kind of site you want. Rest assured, big or small, it will be stunning! Contact us today for a quote.

How do I obtain a www."your-name-here".com address?

The address that ends with .com/.co.uk/.net/.org etc... is referred to as a domain name. We can buy these for you on your behalf or you can do it yourself, they aren't expensive at all! We recommend 123-reg.co.uk .

Do you offer web hosting?

Yes we do, at very reasonable rates, please contact us for a quote.

I just want a "myname@domain.com" email address, can you do this?

Yes we can, at very reasonable rates, please contact us for a quote.

I still don't get it, what is remote support?

Basically we connect to your computer over the internet. You then give us permission to move your mouse and use your keyboard on the screen. By doing this we can repair lots of problems without even leaving the office! Read our remote support page for more information.

Is this safe?

Absolutely, you have complete control of what goes on, you have the power to take control away from us if need be.

All of the remote support sessions are encrypted which in "real english" means that if someone were to somehow intercept the transmission, it would mean absolutely nothing to them.

Can you connect to my computer without me knowing?

No, this isn't the way it works, you need to give us permission every time we connect to your machine.

How do I pay for a remote support session?

Once the repair work is complete, we'll forward you to our secure checkout. Our checkout is managed by paypal, who are the worlds most popular online payment processor. From here you can pay by any major debit or credit card.

What is Drop and Go?

Drop and Go is our new service that enables customers to drop computers off with us for repair. The advantage of this is that you don't need to allocate a few hours for a nerd to come round.

Simply drop off your machine along with our computer submission form and take it to our conveniently located managed offices.

We then fix your machine and deliver it back to you, easy! Have a look at our Drop and Go page for more information.

Can I ask technical questions at your office?

Unfortunately not, our secretary can only take machines from you along with the computer submission form. We ask that you direct any questions of a technical nature to us. Please contact us with your queries.

Why don't you just get a shop like everyone else?

This has been the debate of many a day at Nerd HQ. We've come to the conclusion that shop fronts are expensive, and by renting an office address, we can keep costs super low and thus ensure that our customers can enjoy the lowest prices around.

My computer is broken, how am I supposed to print out your form?!?

There will always be spare copies behind the desk at our office, just ask the secretary for one.

What's the parking availability like at your office?

Very good, there are fifty free parking spaces around the back of the building and in the unlikely event that they are full, it is situated on a very quiet road.
